Carlos Villanueva Brandt Architecture, formed in 1984, has designed projects of varied sizes in locations ranging from London to Khartoum and built projects in the UK, Greece and Japan. Its multifaceted work has been published widely and exhibited internationally.


The practice provides a full range of architectural and design services. Specialising in residential projects, public buildings, master plans, commercial spaces, art installations, furniture, and product design, its expertise extends to working in historic and challenging environments. Adopting a collaborative approach, the practice has successfully worked with various clients and partners, consistently adding value to each project through efficient management and innovative design.

Founder member of NATO in 1983.

RIBA President's Silver Medal Tutor Prize 2000.
Visiting Lecturer/Professor at the Royal College of Art 1995-1998, 2000-2005.
Visiting Lecturer/Professor at Central Saint Martins - University of the Arts London 2016-1017.
Visiting Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan, 2015- 2024.
